Cumberland County FCU President & CEO Announces Retirement After 36 Years of Service

Cumberland County FCU has announced the retirement of its longtime President and Chief Executive Officer, Scott Harriman, who will step down at the end of 2026 after an extraordinary 36-year career. The Board of Directors has appointed Ryan Grund, currently Chief Financial Officer, as the next President, effective July 1, 2026.

During his tenure, Scott Harriman guided the credit union through decades of growth, transformation, and innovation. Under his leadership, CCFCU expanded its membership, strengthened its financial position, and enhanced member services through major technological and operational advancements.

Since Harriman became President and CEO in 1990, CCFCU has grown from 1 to 5 branches and added an Operations Center. Asset size has increased from $9 million to more than $477 million, and membership has grown from 3,600 to over 22,000 members.  Most recently, the field of membership has increased from 2 to 9 counties including, Androscoggin, Cumberland, Franklin, Kennebec, Lincoln, Oxford, Sagadahoc, Somerset, and York.

“It has been an honor to serve this credit union and our members,” said Harriman. “I am deeply proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and I have every confidence that Ryan Grund will continue moving the organization forward with the same commitment to service and integrity.”

Grund, who has served as Chief Financial Officer since 2013, has extensive experience in financial leadership, strategic planning, and organizational development. Throughout his tenure, he has been instrumental in guiding the credit union’s financial strategy, risk management, and long-term sustainability.

“I am grateful to the Board for their trust and honored to lead Cumberland County FCU into its next chapter,” says Grund. “I look forward to building on the strong foundation that Scott Harriman has created and continuing to serve our members, employees, and community.”

Board Chair Lucky D’Ascanio praised both leaders, stating: “We sincerely thank Scott Harriman for his 36 years of dedicated service and remarkable leadership. His vision has shaped who we are today. We are equally confident that Ryan Grund is the right person to carry that vision forward.”

Harriman will assist with the transition over the coming months to ensure continuity and support the organization during the leadership change.

“It’s been an honor to work with so many talented people and serve so many kind and caring members,” shared Harriman. “From a credit union perspective, I’ve always felt that our growth is an important indicator of whether we are living up to our mission. It demonstrates that we are enhancing lives by building strong relationships with members and the community,” he concluded.
